My mom was born on 22/2/21, 1st child to Amy & Joseph Chapman, she had 2 older half sisters called Amy & Joan, who's father died in the 1st World War. Mom & Dad married on 23/1/43. Together they had 9 children, 5 Boys & 4 Girls. The youngest Alan sadly passed away as a baby, he was very poorly when he was born and also had Down's Syndrome. Mom & Dad moved into Mill Farm Road, Harborne, Birmingham B17 in June 1948 with 3 of their children & went on to have 6 more babies there. We didn't have lots of money & never went without at Christmas & Birthdays which were always good fun, with sandwiches, Jelly & Cakes for a Birthday party & lots of fun games (all of which were home-made games).... Christmas eve we had to sew or pin a name label on a pillow case ready for Santa, it was always fun in the morning with gifts such as Hot Water Bottles, Sweets & of course Hand Knitted Jumpers or Cardigans from our Nanny. We all grew up and got married & as time went on we blessed her with 21 Grand Children and they in turn did the same and have blessed her with 27 Great Grand Children. Mom loved each and everyone of her family & knew them all & who belonged to who. Up until New Year 2011 she sent Birthday cards to them all which was a great achievement for her, as she became 90 in February 2011 for which she has a big party where they all turned up (where was possible) which made her a very proud lady. Then in April 2011, Mom was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer, which she fought with pride & bravery... Sadly she lost that fight on 1st August 2011 at 9.10am with her family around her.
